NEC ISDN error

This problem is usually quite serious, as it usually means no incoming calls to your business. It is limited to the NEC Xen and IPK range of systems, and is related to the ISDN Digital phone lines from the provider being in a faulty condition or being in an unpowered condition.

In the faulty condition, there will be some greeting card sized plastic boxes near your phone system with Telecom or Telstra stickers on them. These are the ISDN NT Units.

They have a POWER and a SYNC light on them, and sometimes a TEST light.

The POWER and SYNC light are SOLID GREEN for normal operation.

If the POWER light is solid, and SYNC light is flashing at a fairly rapid rate, ie 3 to 4 times a second, then the line from the exchange or the actual NT Unit itself most likely has something wrong with it and your line provider is the best person to contact in the first instance, and if they give you the run around as usually is the case, Give us a call text or email immediately as you could be missing phone calls!

If the POWER light is solid, and the SYNC light is flashing 1 second on/ 1 second off, then the connection between the NT Unit and the NEC has gone or the ISDN card in the phone system has a fault on it. Give us a call text or email immediately as you could be missing phone calls!

If the POWER light is NOT ON, there's no power getting to the NT Unit. Check the power connections to the NT Unit and the other NT Units that may be on the wall next to that one. Give us a call text or email immediately as you could be missing phone calls!

If all else fails.... Give us a call text or email immediately as you could be missing phone calls!
